Skilled Migration

If you have a particular skill set and you wish to live in Australia, you may be eligible to apply for a skilled migration visa. Skilled migration visas are determined with a points tested system via an occupation list. You may or may not be sponsored by an Australian citizen or permanent resident. There are many different occupations which may allow you to live in Australia on a skilled migration visa. The Department of Immigration and Border Protection may require you to undertake a skills assessment. To obtain most skilled migration visas you need to be under 50 years of age at the time of the application.

It is important to seek legal advice as soon as possible about the whether you are likely to be allowed to come to Australia due to lengthy processing times, restrictive rules and what is involved in completing an application.
